Josh is an undergraduate in geography with broad interests in human-environment interactions, biogeography, urban forestry, geology, and land use change science. He has been studying the effectiveness of a community tree giveaway in Denton, Texas and presented his work at the 2015 SWAAG annual conference where he won 1st place in the undergraduate competition. He served 9 years on active duty in the U.S. Army and was stationed many places including North Carolina, Alaska, Texas, Kentucky, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Josh also participated in the 2015 Summer Geography Study Abroad China Field School where he spent 3 weeks learning and understanding a completely different culture. He plans on staying at UNT to complete his graduate studies in geography and continuing to serve with GTU!
